Ogopogos represented their high schools well at the regionals meet! Congrats everyone for a job well done! Good luck at provincials!

A record-breaking performance by their girls 400-metre freestyle relay foursome led the Okanagan Mission Huskies to the Okanagan regional high school swimming championships on the weekend at H2O.
Forty-five swimmers at OKM combined to take first place in both the girls’ and boys’ team competition and claimed top spot overall with a combined 528.5 points. The Penticton Lakers swam to second place with 296.5 points and Revelstoke took third with 273.
OKM’s Dominique Frost, Mary Koehle, Emalie Schueler and Ealin Ran broke the 1985 record in the 400 metre freestyle B division relay. They shaved two seconds off the 27-year-old standard. The same foursome also placed first in the 200 medley B relay and took second place in the 200 free B relay.
Mt. Boucherie’s team of Lauren Fauchon, Kassidie Cornell, Liz Aguiar and Danielle Douglas joined the Huskies in the record book. The Liquid Lightning Swim Club members bettered the 2008 regional record in the 200 medley relay open division with their first place swim.
The Kelowna Owls’ team of Lacey Falkingham, Christina Russo, Jen Short and Skye Kinnear took second place in the 200 medley, also eclipsing the existing record.
Individually, Zach Torres of OKM smashed three para division meet records - in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 fly.
The Boucherie Bears, with only 12 swimmers in the competition, finished fourth in the team competition, while Danielle Douglas won the open 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle events. She placed second in the backstroke.
The top-three finishers in each event advance to the B.C.School Sports provincial meet in Richmond, Nov. 16-17.
Others swimmers qualifying for the BCSS meet are Cam Feil (KSS), Craig Mathieson (Boucherie), Garrison Frost (OKM), Genevieve Lutsch (KSS), Josh Zakala (OKM), Denzel Mohammed (KSS), Matthew Tran (KSS), Scott Andreen (Boucherie), Sam McDonald (KSS) and Ian Dixon (OKM).
