  • Mini-Meet February 11, 12:00pm - 5:00pm H2O Center // January 15 2012

Happy New Year - the Ogopogo are hosting a mini-meet on February 11th...

    Happy New Year Ogopogo:

There are a couple fun events coming up right around the corner.  Of February 11th, we are hosting a Mini Swim Meet or a Fun Meet at the H2O Center, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
The Mini Meet is great as it breaks up the monotony of winter swimming, allows the swimmers to see how they are doing in common swim meet races, gives new families
an understanding of what a swim meet is all about (on a small scale), and injects an element fun with a few family fun relays.

On the note of relays, there are 2 relays scheduled where parents can participate along with the swimmers.  The Meet Package (on the Meets Page) outlines all the details for the Mini-Meet - including the races and requirements to join.  In order to register for the swim meet, please sign in and register on the “Meets” page.  There are specific instructions on how to register and sign up for a Swim Meet on the Meets Page. Considering this is just a fun meet, there is no need to select specific races, as all swimmers will be entered in all appropriate events.  If, as a parent, you would like to participate (which we highly encourage), simply enter your name in the ‘comments’ section of the registration area when you are registering your child(ren).

As a Summer Swim Club, all operations and swim meets are run by volunteers.  At a swim meet, there are multiple positions that need to be filled throughout the course of the day and we rely on parents to assist to ensure the meet runs smoothly and efficiently.  As such, the club will be offering a Swimming 101 class on Monday February 6 and Wednesday February 8th - from 5:30 to 6:30.  This class is designed to introduce new members to the many fine details of running a swim meet and we highly recommend that you plan to attend one of them, if you are new to the club.

Lastly, you will be receiving some details about a fun team event in the next few days - tentatively scheduled in the last week of January or early February.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact one of the Board Members, or browse through the club website / FAQ section.
