Welcome back all swimmers to our 2012 summer season. We are looking forward to great things...
The start of a new Summer Season comes with long winded emails. Keep in mind that nearly all emails will be posted online at http://www.OgopogoSwimClub.com - so go there frequently to keep abreast of swimming news and events. On that note, here is a list of items you should be aware of:
H2O Access Cards: All swimmers returning from the Winter sesssion need to stop by the front desk to ‘re-activate’ their access cards for the summer. All NEW SWIMMERS need to stop by the front desk at the H2O Center to receive an access card. You will be required to fill out a short form and the process takes a couple minutes, but once complete, swimmers will be able to scan in every time they attend practice. Both Returning and New swimmers need to stop by the front desk to receive or activate their access cards. Please note that the access cards simply allow the swimmers to gain access to the pool for practice only. The access cards do not allow swimmers to access the pool outside of Ogopogo Practice times.
Practice Times: All practice times are posted online at http://www.OgopogoSwimClub.com, on the Practice page. Please note that every Wednesday practice is at Parkinson Rec Center on Harvey Ave. This is for the duration of the summer. By the end of the first week, the coaches hope to have all the swimmers in their proper practice Groupings. For Ogies, you will receive a schedule by the weekend, indicating what sessions to attend. We are doing our best to ensure that we accommodate your requested times.
Kick Off BBQ: The Club will be hosting a Summer Kick-Off BBQ at Parkinson Rec Center on Wednesday May 30th. More details to come…
Penticton Swim Meet: After a 2 year hiatus due to pool renovations, Penticton will be hosting their Swim Meet on May 26 / 27. This is a great swim meet for new families as it is low key and a very good introduction to competitive swimming. All swim meets and instructions on how to register for Swim Meets is found on the team website under Meets.
Swimming 101: For any new members to the club, we will be hosting 2-3 Swimming 101 sessions. Your attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory as it provides crucial information on the ins-and-outs of a swim meet. Dates will be coming out soon - and the sessions will be held during normal practice hours.
One last thing - if you have questions about your swimmer, practice, or swim meets, please ask a Board Member or someone who looks like they know what they’re talking about
as opposed to a coach during practice time. You can also email a board member - as their contact information is online http://ogopogoswimclub.com/index.php/about/contact
We will be in touch several times over the summer - keep your eyes on your email and on the website.
